Awards shortlist announced

We are delighted to reveal our first shortlist of unsung heroes in the community.  The finalists are all in with the chance of winning £250, and being heralded as a Beacon of Brecon.

The accolade is the first in our award series which called out for people to nominate individuals or organisations that they felt should be recognised and rewarded.

They include Colin Davis for his fundraising, Timothy Belcher for his charity efforts and Lyndon Price for his contribution to the community.

The finalists are:

  • Colin Davis - Colin has run in many events raising money for various charities, over numerous years. He is seen as a local celebrity because everyone knows him from seeing him running. He is a wonderfully kind gentleman, and he always happily says 'hello' to everyone.
  • Timothy Belcher - Timothy was nominated for the award for all the charity work he does.  He hosts numerous events to help raise money for various charities including local ones which directly benefit the community.
  • Lyndon Price – Lyndon was nominated for the difference he makes to the young and old people of Brecon.  Driving the 'Dial a ride Brecon Beacons' bus, he provides a superb service to those who may not be able to venture outside their homes.  Without this facility these people wouldn't receive any of the social interaction that a trip into town provides.

To cast your vote, please email  beaconawards@pmwcom.co.uk  with the name of the person you think should win in the subject heading.  Voting closes at midnight on Sunday 3rd February.

The next set of awards will be looking for nominations of local charities and organisations that are making a difference in the district.  You can submit who you would like to see recognised for their work by emailing beaconawards@pmwcom.co.uk  with the name of the group and why you think they should win.   We look forward to hearing from you!
